Have A Break, Have A ... Massage

Kitkat, have a break, have a massage

We often say that getting a massage at home in London is a great way to squeeze in a mini break without all the fuss! Properly performed by an experienced therapist, a 90-minute relaxation massage can genuinely help ease stress and calm your nerves. Add your favourite brew and chocolate treat to really get your endorphins flowing and bat away those niggling worries for an hour or two.

KitKat Massages

Nestle launched KitKat in Columbia in 2015 with a rather unusual but interesting campaign. Their key message tallied nicely with our philosophy that getting a massage is synonymous with having a break. To promote their launch, Nestle installed billboards at bus stops around the centre of Bogota, displaying the famous chocolate snack, just as you might expect. But there was a hidden twist for exhausted locals needing a break.

As soon as a passer-by leaned against the billboard, a secretly installed vibrating mechanism behind the advert triggered into action and began performing a relaxing upper and lower back massage

Naturally, any intended relaxation from the free massage would probably be ruined by the shock that unsuspecting consumers would feel when an advert suddenly started to massage them. Nestle avoided any such mishaps by making everything very clear in the advert’s text. Another cool feature of their campaign was that whenever a local would tweet the word "stressed" or "tired" to Nestle, they would get an immediate auto-tweet reply directing them to the closest massaging billboard!

It's not only KitKat that has brought chocolate and massage together; the two have much more in common than you might have otherwise expected.

Mini-Break vs Massage At Home

Going away for a few days to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life in London can be a wonderful way to relax your mind and regain some mental and physical energy. However, many of us who live and work in London know only too well that trying to organise a mini break away for a few days can end up becoming the cause of even higher stress levels rather than the calm solution we were after.

If you are finding it too difficult to organise some time away or just don't have sufficient spare funds at the moment, then consider booking yourself a relaxing massage at home as a quick and easy alternative. You might be pleasantly surprised at all the benefits you will enjoy compared to booking a traditional break away from home.

Check out the key differences between opting to relax through a home visit massage versus booking a mini away break:

Massage At Home Mini Away Break
Time needed 1 – 2 hours 2 – 5 days
Time to organise 5 – 10 minutes 2 – 5 hours
Soonest start In 60 minutes In 1 – 2 days
Stress levels Reduced Can go either way1
Health Positive Can go either way2
Cost £50 per hour £700 on average

1 Whilst we hope that every holiday or short break is a wonderful stress reducing experience, it is not unusual for the cost, travel and various other inconveniences of being away for several days (think annoying office emails) to hamper your intentions and bring you back even more wound up then when you left. Mobile massage therapy on the other hand is brought to you at your home and is specifically tailored to focus on calming elements.

2 Some people love activity filled healthy holidays but the rest of us often end up eating and drinking to excess and come back happy but probably a little unhealthier! Getting a massage has various well known health benefits in addition to calming your stress levels.

Stress is one of the most common causes for serious illness in men. If you can't find the time for a longer holiday, reduce your stress on a weekly basis by allowing yourself just an hour for a relaxing massage. At the recommended rate of one per week, you could enjoy over three months of regular relaxing massage therapy for less than the price of an average weekend away!
